Supermarche Studio announce Katalog exhibition, 23-28 June at Craft Central, Clerkenwell.

Katalog showcases new creative projects by a group of designers united by their background in architecture. The exhibition will feature new products from all designers and will include interior accessories, prints and jewellery.

The exhibition is aimed at the design conscious consumers, and professionals living and working in the Clerkenwell area. Each designer is inspired by architecture in their practice. Their diverse work is underpinned by formal architectural training and informed by London’s urban environment. It is hoped the show will be as inspiring to architecture professionals as the wider general public.

The designers, some still practicing architects, work with a diverse range of materials and across a wide spectrum of craft skills. Katalog will feature,

In a dimly lit space off Saville Row lurks a broken sculpture warm to the touch. Then you are confronted with a monkey wearing a human mask. Our favourite piece synthetically recreates the conditions Monet might have experienced painting his water lilies: Glass aquariums filled with the original pond water bathed in the light conditions documented from 1914.

We can only advise you to go and see this spellbinding show.

The V&A kickstarted the London Design Festival this weekend with “The Wish List.” Ten famous designers have been asked “What have you always wanted in your home, but never been able to find?” Their answers have become the brief for ten young designers who must make the famous designer’s wish come true this week using only hard wood.

Also on is “Disobedient Objects”, and exhibition exploring the powerful role of objects in movements for social change. The show offers great opportunities to get stuck in. You can have fun trying upholstery and designing with Letraset, something novel for those under 20 something?

Waterworld, France.

Thirty minutes south of Paris I arrive in Achères, home to the largest wastewater treatment plant in Europe. However I have come for another water based attraction, the final day of a festival called Waterworld.  Over the last 3 days more than 1000 young architects and designers have been busy building a floating city and today I join them to have a party.
